Employers want to know what potential employees know and can do. Diplomas offer little information to employers on the skills students possess to deliver technical and service skills to customers. NYS Approved CTE programs offer the opportunity for students to earn industry based credentials that can serve as a start for building a “stack” of credentials as they receive additional education and training. By building the “stack” individuals increase their earning and learning power. This session will help you to evaluate industry based credentials, understand the role they play in industry and how to convey the importance of the credential to your students and their parents.
Presenter: Edward A. Shafer, Ed.D. Sr. Consultant with the CTE Technical Assistance Center of New York
