Clinical Medical Assisting H.B. Ward Technical Center
The Clinical Medical Assisting Program at the H.B. Ward Technical Center at Eastern Long Island Academy of Applied Technology (Eastern Suffolk BOCES) is designed to provide basic training in the areas of phlebotomy, EKG, medical terminology, First Aid/CPR, medical assisting, and addressing fundamental theories and principles necessary for students interested in entering the health care field as certified medical assistants.
Some key projects within the program include a clinical rotation at Peconic Bay Medical Center, organizing and facilitating no less than 2 campus wide blood drives, and the heart dissection lab, in collaboration with the Nurse Assisting and Animal Science programs.
The Clinical Medical Assisting program collaborates with a diverse range of employers, industry representatives, and community members.Outreach activities include regular meetings and Business and Industry Advisory meetings. Some of the business partnerships that provide exemplary experiences for students include, Peconic Pediatrics/ Allied Pediatrics of New York PLLC, Kamal K. Singh, MD, Eastern Suffolk Pulmonology, P.C., Stat Health (Currently City M.D.), Suffolk Primary Health LLC, and Stony Brook Surgical Associates U.F.P.C.
SUCCESS DATA: 100% graduation rate. 91% of eligible students earned a license/credential. 100% of eligible students passed a technical assessment.
