New Visions Medical
The Questar III New Visions Medical program is designed for high school seniors who are planning to seek at least a four-year degree ina clinical medicine field. Most students aspire to become physicians,nurse practitioners, and other professional careers that require post graduate work. Typically, students accepted into the program have acumulative GPA near 95% and an average Regents/Common Core examwell above 90%. Each year, 15 students are accepted, or about one third of the applicants. Admitted students exemplify the characteristics of maturity, responsibility, and work ethic.

New Visions Medical students complete 140 – 150 hours of clinical shadowing. Each student shadows 45 – 50 times, including five surgical experiences, five rotations in the emergency department, all inpatient floors, respiratory therapy, cardiac catheterization, radiology, oncology, sleep lab, physical therapy, behavioral health, the lab and more. The students also have hands-on clinical laboratory experiences in the state of-the-art facilities at Hudson Valley Community College, where they engage in several three-hour interactive laboratories in respiratory therapy,invasive cardiovascular technology, dental hygiene, paramedic services, and biotechnology.
Students engage with the community by helping to lead activities at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center, by performing charitable outreach to Unity House for the homeless and victims of domestic violence, and by seeking partnerships with local middle and elementary schools for science outreach.
100% of students passed the Regents or an approved substitution exam. 100% of students accepted into two or four-year colleges. 100% of students in program graduated from high school.
