Building Trades Program

The Building Trades program at McKinley High School in Buffalo, NY offers a world class educational experince for students interested in careers in the building trades. The program includes carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and heating, ventilation & air conditioning components and offers a fully integrated academic course-load, college articulations and industry recognized credentials.
The community connections are strong within the Building Trades program, with multiple business partners, college articulation agreements, and a mission-driven capstone project that provides students the opportunity to witness their learned skills transform the lives of families within their own community.
The Building Trades program has articulation agreements with Erie Community College and Alfred State – SUNY College of Technology. Additionally, through its P-TECH 2 grant, students are eligible for dual enrollment at Alfred State College. The courses are offered at the high school, and students earn college credit at the same time. These partnerships give students the opportunity to experience college-level coursework, visit collegiate facilities, and meet with post-secondary instructors.The articulations and dual enrollments represent a total of 72 credits over 21 courses!
