CLNA for Perkins Perkins Process Overview and Getting Started 

Description:  Participants will review the purpose and main components of a CLNA and how it links to their Perkins application as means for goal setting and identifying areas of improvement. The seven major steps of completing the CLNA will be identified with a focus on Step 1, identifying the working team. Participants will review the application materials and timelines to develop a work breakdown plan to complete the process meeting all deadlines.
Participants will also focus on Step 2 of the process, analyzing Labor Market Information.

CLNA - Analyzing Student Performance

Description: Participants will focus on Step 3, Analyzing Student Performance. The CLNA must contain an evaluation of CTE concentrators’ performance on the core performance indicators. Participants will learn where to locate, how to interpret, and how to sort data found in SIRS reports that contain performance data including subgroups.

CLNA - Analyzing Program Performance

Description: Participants will focus on Step 4, Analyzing Program Performance. The CLNA includes a description of how CTE programs offered by the local eligible recipient are sufficient in size, scope, and quality to meet the needs of all students served by the eligible recipient. Definitions of size, scope, and quality will be discussed. Participants will also focus on step 5, analyzing progress towards Implementing NYSED-Approved CTE programs of study.

CLNA- Analyzing Access and Equity; Analyzing Recruitment, Retention & Training

Description: Participants will focus on step 6, analyzing processes for recruitment, retention, and training of CTE educators . Participants will focus on step 7, analyzing access and equity in NYSED-Approved CTE programs. The CLNA includes a description of how the eligible recipient is focused on support and access for special populations. Also, the gaps and needs identified in the CLNA are foundational to the Perkins application. Gaps identified must be directly tied to program data as well as those recommendations of the stakeholder group and used to inform needs to be met in the Perkins grant application.

CLNA - Translating CLNA Needs into Perkins Actions and Addressing the  Compliance Questions

Description: Section 3.2 of the Perkins application contains 13 questions to gauge each applicant's compliance with the federal law. This session will help you to decipher each question and strategize ways to answer it concisely and completely.

CLNA - Perkins: Let’s Talk Budget

Description: The CLNA provides information on strengths and areas of improvement of current program delivery. Participants will examine how identified improvement strategies may translate into actions that are funded by the Perkins Grant. Participants will discuss the determining factors that deem an expense to be allowable. They will review the FS-10 code definitions to make sure that items are properly coded and make sure that all expenses are aligned to address needs identified in the CLNA and section 4.0 of the grant application. The budget amendment process may also be discussed. Participants will be provided examples of allowable and non-allowable funded actions.

CLNA - Perkins Final Narrative and Getting Paperwork Together

Description: The Perkins Final Narrative captures enrollment and performance information from the previous grant year. The report on 2021-2022 activities is due on June 30 this year. Participants will examine the report, then colleagues will collaborate by sharing ideas and Q and A.
