LGBTQIA Youth: Creating Safe Environments for Children

Description: School climate is composed of numerous factors, including not only the level of physical safety at school but also the extent to which members of the school community feel valued and welcomed at school.LGBTQIA students experience bullying at a higher rate than their non-LGBTQIA peers, often with serious consequences. This workshop will describe the differences between gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation to help educators build safe and positive learning spaces for all students.
