Professional learning for teachers and school leaders is one of the key improvement strategies available from the CTE Technical Assistance Center. Professional learning is primarily the responsibility of the local education agency, and LEAs should strive to make it ongoing and personalized to the needs of each staff member.
The CTE TAC has several resources to support local professional development efforts. It can provide Expert-led Workshops conducted by CTE TAC staff or selected partners. A series of Online Workshops provides content that individuals can investigate on their own or as a group. The CTE TAC has also developed several Facilitation Guides that offer outlines for short professional learning experiences. These experiences often involve a group of staff viewing a short informational video and engaging in facilitated discussion to reflect on instructional practices. The Facilitation Guides can also be adapted and embedded in other local staff workshops.
